Ok, so we can’t go anywhere to get a treatment right now, but there are a few things we can do to give ourselves a bit of a break, a bit of a chill out, a bit of time to put our feet up and take some time out for ourselves.
I, for one, can’t wait to welcome clients back to my lovely treatment room in Oakridge, Basingstoke for a fabulous facial, or a relaxing massage or an Indian Head massage or one of the other fabulous treatments I offer. I also can’t wait to have a treatment myself!
Book a slot in your diary for you
So, firstly book a time slot in your diary! Make some space in the diary for some time for you. I find if I block things out in the diary I’m more likely to get them done, but let’s face it it’s not always going to be easy if we’re trying to do this at home which is why it’s so nice to get away for an hour or so to treat ourselves, but we can do this! Maybe you’ll do this once a week, maybe a couple of times a week, maybe it will become a daily practice – it’s up to you.
Find peace, calm and comfort
So, a space, with a nice comfortable chair or perhaps you want to sit on a cushion on the floor. Having a blanket close by might be quite nice as well!! Can you close the door? If you’re family are around let them know that you’re taking this valuable time out, or even encourage them to maybe join you every now and then (or have your own relaxation practice and a separate family relaxation practice – that’s what I do!!)
Candles, incense, essential oils?
Do you have candles, incense sticks, perhaps an aromatherapy diffuser with some lovely aromatherapy oils? The fabulous smell of aromatherapy oils, or a candle or incense sticks can change our mood in an instant. I for one notice how relaxed I start to feel if I walk into a room where a white sage incense stick is burning – it brings back memories of walking in to my Yoga Teacher Training for a weekend of Yoga!
Maybe pop some relaxation music on – You Tube has loads of free relaxation music or maybe you might like to listen to a guided visualisation/meditation while you are relaxing.
Perhaps dim the lights or switch the lights off in your chosen space!
And then just breathe…..focus on your breath for a good 15-20 minutes. This might feel like a luxury to take this time out of your day (especially if you have little ones) but the importance of focusing on our mental health and wellbeing is key to getting through this challenging time.
Really focus on your breathing. Notice your in breath and notice your out breath. Maybe just saying to yourself breathing in and breathing out as you do just that. Enjoy that peace, enjoy that space, enjoy that time.
If you don’t have candles or aromatherapy oils ping me a message as I sell Neal’s Yard Remedies products and also Crystal Cole Candles so I can ping you over my link for you to browse the products and perhaps treat yourself.
